well we will have to wait for the result of the investigation. a point to note is that it takes about 3/4 of a million dollars to train a captain. therefore, the airlines will be very thorough in its investigation before jumping to any conclusion. 6 comments: saturday, 15 september 2018 flight sq247 cancelled after pilot failed damp ...... 6 comments: friday, 14 september 2018 cabin crew pioneers 6 comments: thursday, 13 september 2018 caught drinking on flight last week on a turnaround flight, a leading steward was caught drinking alcohol on his flight. he denied the act but his inflight manager, in an unprecedented move, had him tested at the clinic on arrival into sg. it was confirmed after the breath analyser test that he indeed consumed alcohol. drinking alcohol whilst on duty is a serious offence and may lead to dismissal from the job. 10 comments: wednesday, 12 september 2018 working visas not renewed i understand that cabin crew from certain countries are unable to have their working visas renewed. no reason was given by the ministry of manpower for the refusal to renew existing crew's working visas. i do not know how many of the foreign crew are affected. some new recruits also had their application of visas rejected. this action by mom is unprecedented and it has come at a time when the airline is expanding and need more crew . 8 comments: friday, 7 september 2018 singapore airlines (sia) cabin crew interview despite news of the death of 2 senior stewardesses recently, my bet is there will be long queues tomorrow at the singapore airlines cabin crew walk-in interviews in petaling jaya (malaysia) and singapore. the wannabes do not really care about the health hazards of flying. they are still young and in their late teens and early twenties. those 2 who passed away were in their late thirties and had been on the job for almost 2 decades. there are also many advantages of becoming a crew. first, it is the attractive salary. second, the chance to visit many countries and be paid for it. third, the shopping at overseas stations. fourth, the opportunity to meet nice people. the list goes on....btw the good news is sia requires about 1,500 cabin crew for year 2019. i wish those attending the interviews great success! sia's career website is here 4 comments: monday, 3 september 2018 two died in their sleep it's sad to see sia losing 2 malaysian senior stewardesses recently. early this year, it was leading stewardess vannesa yeap who died in her sleep in sfo. last friday, chief stewardess tay lay hoong also died in her sleep in her apartment in singapore. each had put in 16 to 20 years of service as cabin crew. people asked me why these relatively young ladies died in their sleep?
